Go Ahead, Take my Breath Away

The Metropolitan Opera is so amazing. There are honestly no words to describe the grandeur which pervades its entire existence. Just stepping onto Lincoln Center Plaza takes the breath away, even though you may not be able to articulate the thought- you know you are in the presence of drama so profound.

The Chandeliers at the Met were designed by Hans Harald Rath.  It is said that Rath was inspired by the big bang theory, which is evidenced in the starburst design of the crystal chandeliers.

Last night I saw Verdi's Traviata. I cried twice. Violetta, the opera's ill fated heroine, is so selfless and so courageous. It's impossible not to suffer alongside her.
