Best Breakfast in NYC, but don't come here if you want a Mimosa.

Getting into bed at night, I am excited for the next's morning breakfast. Breakfast is the best meal of the day for many reasons, but it is the prominence of coffee that really pushes it over the top. Going on year three here in NYC, I have been all over in search of the perfect Breakfast; I found it at Stage.

Stage is centered around a narrow counter top, on one side is a griddle and the other a slim row of stools-- pretty much backed up against the wall. The whole place cannot be more than 20 sq. feet and I am pretty positive I have heard them receive phone calls for take out orders on the pay phone in the back. The = kitchen-counter side is one continuous metal sort of counter/dresser with drawers that contain food- rice in one, gravy in another-its very interesting... They have a the whole range of your breakfast favorites, cooked on the griddle, along with Eastern European specialties such as Borscht and Perogies.

The Challah Bread French Toast (as they call it) is one of my favorite meals I have ever had. Two, thick cut, floppy pieces of Challah are soaked in egg and thrown on the griddle with butter. After a few minutes the chef pours more egg over the Challah and shakes a healthy amount of cinnamon on both sides of the toast. The end product is the most amazing combination of fried egg, cinnamon and challah bread-- served with approximately a half cup of butter on the side.

Though the C.B.F.T. is my fave, everything here looks delicious, the burgers, the home fries, the full range of sausage-- and you are going to get out of here for around $7 a person. It's A-mazing. You  might have to awkwardly ask people to shuffle over in order to get two stools next to each other, but its worth it, and I have never had some one decline.

STAGE- 2nd Ave just below 9th- right next to the STOMP theater.

Butter.
